3/3/2007—Cryosurgery performed by UC Davis.

5/22/2007—Examined by Dr. Slagle. The tumor had spread to the anterior chamber (the interior of the eye).

Therapy:

5/22/2007—Ramaekers Equine Immune Formula was started twice daily.

Follow up:

6/16/2007—Three weeks later, the tumor in the anterior chamber had regressed entirely.

8/30/2007—There was no evidence of tumor regrowth on recheck three months later.

2/2013—Zboy’s owner noticed a raised bump on the upper cornea several weeks later.

3/2013—On the first veterinarian’s exam, there was concern about a potential corneal tumor. 1% fluorouracil was prescribed; however, administration was challenging.

Age/breed/sex: 22-year-old Quarter Horse Mare

History:

Mahza presented with both internal and external abscessation. Two other veterinarians had attempted therapy with Trimethoprim-Sulfa and Penicillin with no results.

Diagnostics:

02/02/09—Mahza was taken to the UC Davis Veterinary Hospital with multiple external abscesses.

02/03/09—Lab work revealed an elevated WBC with increased neutrophils (77 %) and decreased lymphocytes (16 %). UC Davis diagnosed Mahza with Pigeon Breast. It was confirmed later by a positive titer of 1:5120. The culture was positive for Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis.

Therapy:

02/02/09—The owner requested that Dr. Ramaekers start Mahza on his Equine Immune Formula that day, and they went to UC Davis. Mahza did not receive antibiotics, but her owners continued to administer the Ramaekers Equine Immune Formula to her daily.

Follow up:

03/25/09—Mahza showed marked clinical improvements with respect to the external abscesses. Additionally, she experienced a significant improvement in her appetite and level of activity. Repeat lab work showed a normal white blood cell count (WBC) with both neutrophils (54%) and lymphocytes (40%) returning to normal levels.

05/11/09—Mahza continues to improve overall appearance and health. The external abscess was nearly completely healed.

Serum antibody titers analyzed at the University of California, Davis Veterinary College, were positive for Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis at a titer of 1:5120. Titers higher than 1:512 are highly associated with internal abscess formation.

History:

LadyBug presented at 10 months old with signs of chronic illness, significantly retarded growth, and generalized unthriftiness. She was the size of a 5-month-old filly. Her prior veterinarian had diagnosed her with the autoimmune disease of pemphigus foliaceus via skin biopsy over her withers.
